HATCH is based on the fundamental principal of mentorship, a core value that distinctly separates it from other festivals.
The mentorship platform is built upon a solid foundation of educational panels. Based on the notion that mentorship is the most effective way to bridge the gap between successful artists and aspiring young talents, the panels are designed as an interactive meeting of the minds, an electric environment where those new to their particular creative field have the rare opportunity to learn hands on from industry veterans.
HATCH gathers top professionals from around the world to act as mentors, seasoned talents eager to share their unique perspectives and hard-learned lessons attained through years of experience in their ever-changing industries. Inevitably, these mentors become reinvigorated by the creative process of the panels, taking with them a newfound energy for their art while leaving an everlasting mark on the minds of the young artists they encountered, and perhaps, altering the path of the next. Reflecting an all encompassing artistic scope, these panels cover a variety of topics related to film, design, music and fine art, fashion, and writing.
HATCH is a not for profit, impartial, educational program dedicated to providing top-tier mentorship to the next generation of artists. The mentorship of these young artists is further enhanced through the engagement of industry leaders via partnerships and learning opportunities stemming from the various panels. The HATCH panels present a truly unique and innovative way to experience the power of mentorship and creative synergy.
About the Innovators’ Lounge
2009 Innovators Lounge
The Innovators’ lounge proves to be the creative hub of HatcHfest. Educational panels by day and stimulating entertainment by night, this lounge has become an amazing collaboration between diverse sponsors. In 2006, we set out to create a space that was changeable, reusable, and could be packed into a bag, travel and set up in a new location. The crew at CTA ARCHITECTS came through with flying colors. Through a relationship built with JUXTAFORM they designed and orchestrated a space from fireretardant, four-way stretch fabric and wires.
The vibe, entertainment, lighting, experiential footprint, local and regional DJs, VJs, artists, photographers, and musicians stimulate this room day and night. The multi-media flat-screens and projection screens are generously provided by Vann’s, the oldest electronics company founded in Montana. Furniture and rugs provided by many local and regional retailers. Come check out this innovative and creative space at HATCHfest ’09!

I always had high hopes for hatchfest, but I am so surprised that 2 weeks before your festival, you do not have a completed schedule or even a tentative one in place on your website. I understand that it is long process and sometimes things don’t work out until the last minute, but it doesn’t inspire much confidence in your organization, not to have things worked out 2 weeks before event. It seems that the event has become more disjointed each year. I am sure you are aware of these issues. I just want you to succeed, and each year it seems a little more disappointing.
Hi Bree,
Thanks for letting us know your concerns! You’ll be pleased to learn that the schedule went live on the website just a few moments ago. HATCHfest is completely supported by our volunteers, and sometimes that means we’re not able to respond as quickly as we’d like. For 2009 we chose to hold off on posting the full schedule until all items were finalized and the majority of times and dates were no longer tentative.
Nearly 3,000 visitors signed up to be notified when our new schedule was released, and I hope you’ll allow me to send you an email if or when anything changes. It’s really easy to join our newsletter updates. Just scroll to the bottom of the page and enter your email address.
It’s a huge responsibility organizing and arranging all of the different players involved, and with the launch of our new website, we’ll certainly try to do better! Again, thank you for letting us know your concerns. It’s the involved public, like yourself, that have helped HATCHfest evolve.
Where will Jody Turner’s information she offered during the Future of Creativity be uploaded? I don’t see it anywhere.
Hi Kristin,
I’ll speak with the crew from the “Future of Creativity” panel and let you know as soon as possible. Expect something in the next few days!
Please put me on the list for Jody Turner’s information too, from the Future of Creativity as well as Designing the World around us. Thanks!
Hi Chaucer and Kristin,
Just a quick note to thank you for attending the HATCH panels this year. I trust that you found them as informative and inspiring as I did.
Jody’s materials have been posted to our website and are now available!
