Shorts and a Sandwich

Thursday, Oct 4 and Friday, Oct 5 with two showings at 12pm and 1pm @ Thirsty Ear on Main

$10 for a lite lunch and a delightful hour of interesting short films

The genre of the short film is an artform for students and upcoming directors to hone the filmmaking process. In addition to the student filmmakers - the Groundbreakers - who are the 'focal point' of HatcH, we are pleased to show 3 short films from different views.

Film #1,
Wunderland , by Stefanie Misztal - is from the Montana State University Science and Natural History Filmmaking program - the only program of this kind in the world.  A 3 minute short film derived from a full-length documentary about Whirling Disease and how to prevent its further spread. This is a spectacular film essay about the Rocky Mountain ecosystem thriving as a delicate, interconnected web of life.

Film #2, The Hole in the Sky ... is from Japanese film student Takeshi Fukunaga who graduated last spring from Brooklyn College, New York. A 'poetry' of scenics of the city set in an interesting little story. 8 mins

Film #3, Script Cops ... An irreverent parody about cops who arrest people for bad screenwriting. Scott is out of the University of Austin, Texas film school. 8 mins. From Scott Rice who was a Groundbreaker at HatcH in 2005. He has gone on to film features and commercials as a successful writer/director/filmmaker, and we are pleased that he has sent us yet another of his well-crafted short films.

In addition we are going to show Scott's award-winning Groundbreaker film from last year's HatcHfest.
